COVID and a VPN

I met someone 3 years ago which honestly feels like only yesterday. I still remember the first conversations and things we did together. I remember their interests, favourite films, books and even colour (the typical dating app conversations xD). But we never would have met were it not for two things, two things which were in place at just the right time.

Those two things were the COVID pandemic and a VPN…

Obviously COVID was a catastrophic world event which no one would ever have wanted to happen, it was horrific and it’s still around today. It did however push everyone indoors and online. In my case it pushed me into using a dating app and that is where I met the most amazing person. The second thing which happened at the right time was the person I met was using a VPN to appear in the UK and was instead living in South America. I guess I was on the app at just the right time. 🙂

So in a weird way, thank you COVID and VPN, if those two things didn’t happen/were used I never would have met a wonderful person and experienced everything I did over the past 3 years. It’s funny how the world aligns in such a way. Looking back it kind of felt like fate… I do however wonder whether the distance and overall experience of meeting me caused them more sadness overall, and that’s an unhappy thought. I wonder if they regret using a VPN that day. 🤔
